A lot of people are posting nice pics of even nicer cars on their sites and blogs and leave comments about the show vehicles and the show in general! There are a couple nice discussions on forums worldwide about the quality of the cars and the show this hear heating things up....! Very funny but far from our hobby!
I decided to post a couple of "outtakes" to get away from the arguments and maybe bring a few smiles back on a couple of faces!
I had to deliver a T3 camper to England and had the Präsi & and Tom to drive it! My job was to take the Präsis regular driven single cab to the show in Esher as he couldn´t manage to set the IDA carbs up in time for the show! The new 2276 engine had been fitted a couple of days before we left Frankfurt! On thursday evening I went to Frankfurt to stay at Präsis house and found him wearing a mask in a "not normal situation" with 2 dogs!
After a very short night we met up with Tom and loaded the single on the trailer instead of the "heater less, oil burning ,aircooled 79 Westi! We headed north west towards Calais !
We made it to the tunnel with an average of 1liter of oil per 100kilometres.
Tom & the Präsi took their turns driving the Westi and warming up in the T5 (which averaged almost the same oil consumption as the T3!!!)!
The world looked much nicer when we finally were in the train after 600kilometres on german, belgian and french roads!
The only problem was that the Präsi was not allowed to smoke while sitting in the train.
He decided to make some silly faces to forget about the cigarettos!
And stand around like beeing ordered but never collected....!
When we finally arrived at the Stanford Hall the first thing was to unload the pick up....
....,check out the latest T3D creation and...
...help Beaker polish the very black and shiny ride!
After finishing this hard job we found those two close friends ....
...with one of them wearing a weird jacked ! I guess it must be AMUNDSENS jacket that sold on Ebay a couple of days ago!
Besides meeting a lot of nice and friendly people we haven´t seen for a while we checked out a couple of really cool cars on display!
Richie King´s old Oval!
The INTERGALACTIC CUSTOM SHOP finally got this monster painted!
An older chap brought this roadster!
Paul and Ivan were obviously overwelmed from the pick up´s polished dash!
Ivan left alone but feeling happy and confident!
Back in the hall we hooked up with the Type 3 Detectives. We were sharing a tradestand with them.
Were is Milky in this picture? Look inside the rim center!
Yes, he was with them!
The boss himself with a "different hairdo! I know what it is like to find no time to go to the hairdresser when you got to finish a project in time!
There are certainly different was to fit a steering pin!
After meeting with our really normal frineds like Ernst...
...and our future employee Helge "hard hand" Ohmes....
I had to check out the local bathroom!
Ready for action again I opened another beer with my newly aquired bottle opener!
Having seen the inside we decided to check what was on hand outside in the car park!
A couple cool 70´s strictly automotive magazines.....
...and a few very desireable 80´s lookers.....
...besides a set rims nobody seems to like so that this guy put it back on his old Porsche!
My show favourite!
Be smart and drive japanese!!!
Back on the show ground we were to the GREEN HEARTS club display to see some of our english friends when....
...we again ran into the arms of the famous austrian pornstars while he was trying to convince Alex Taylor to take part in his upcoming new movie! Mouth still open and Alex still happy!
As this year was also the 20th VOLKSWORLD anniversary the people from the mag payed a free bar and snacks for friends and traders!
Schorsch at work...
...while the Schwarzwald guys were already relaxing when things between Mr.Otto and them were still ok!
As soon as I told the T3D staff that there was a free bar almost everything got out of control...!!!!
I can´t remember having seen people drinking that much in such a short time before! It was fun...a lot of it! Especially when Milky sh.. the snake out!
During this action the Präsi was trying to grab the bottle opener in my pants! Later more about this case!
Later that night we went to the Green Harts dinner instead of the Cal Look dinner we attended last year!
A few guys from the austrian delegation are sometimes hard to handle!!! Especially when it comes to money!
Alex ,James and Gemma having a good time when the ....
....the burgers finally arrived !
The coolest bathroom ever! No, it´s not a mirror! It´s the same room for boys and girls!
Sunday saw us very relaxed! The Präsi picked up his well earned TOP 20 trailer queen award...
...and didn´t seem to have bad thoughts about people who drove their cars to the show! Well done Prez! Congrats also to the T3Ds who sadly didn´t get the "Best of Show" but a Top20 also! Cracked window rubbers and a safety star make a difference! (just jocking guys!!!)
After loading the "show car" back on the trailer we finally could concentrate on what was going on around us!
Nice 912 outlaw!
Paul making the Cheetah´s fender wells to fit the 17"ers!
One last breakfest with a little "making Präsi jealous" thing!
This is what he really wanted....
...but when he grabs it....
.....the NOSEMPIHORNBUTTONDEFENDINGKNIFE comes out!
It was a sad feeling for all of us to leave this place of great fun and joy on monday morning.....
.....but not before leaving a little bit of work for the cleaning staff!
After a short nap we found ourselves .....
...checking out the duty free products at the channel tunnel shops....
....a little adult entertainment while in the train!
3D rules the Prez said!
This is in what we travelled in...
...and that is what we got to many from!
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR IN ESHER AND KEEP SMILING!
Our employee Tobi will be leaving the Bug Box team in may after working here for over 11YEARS! That is very sad and hard to find a good substitute for him! He is the guy in the middle! Thanks for the fabulous work in the past and good luck in your new job!
The german chocolate company MILKA currently makes a limited number of decade chocolates! The 50´s, 60´s, 70´s and 80´s are available! My favourite one is the 50´s vanilla custard!
The top one is a east (ex-DDR) brand that say "Schlager Süsstafel" meaning "hits sweet bar"!
The 80´s one should have had ATS rims and a Porsche wing!
Do you know the typical story of a rare car stored away for ages then somebody finally finds it and buys it off the first owner! Things like that happen in reality sometimes!!! I bought a few cars off the original owner during my career! What happened today is my personal favourite story!
We towed this 1963 1500S Ghia out of it´s garage where it has been sitting since day one. It has only 88700 kilometres on the speedo and has never been driven in winter! The sister of the original owner sold it through the newspaper! It needs some TLC and a couple of repairs done by a local dealer were not executed very professional but it still is what it is: a lowmile ,very original type 34 with only one owner and all the original documentation! ´
It was very sad when we took the car away from the lil´ol´lady! She said: " This car has always been loved.......................!"
Last friday Silvia and me packed our stuff and the WARBIRD on the trailer and made the 754km trip to Ninove in Belgium to have a pretty relaxed weekend with friends from all over europe.
Freddy Peeters was hosting the 10th edition of his No H2O Show !
The (g)host of the town!!! Thanks Freddy for a great weekend!
Silvia was very excited not only about the cool IDA decoration in Freddy´s perfume shop! There was something for boys and girls!
When the english delegation arrived their first stop was the first pub they found! It seems like Puppy Medhurst did a great job leading the roadtrip in my old LINDE panel!
Nothing wrong, just checkin´!
The VEEDUB FAMILY from http://veedubfamily.blogspot.com/ was on hand on sarturday, too. Dommi and Georg traveled in their latest VEEDUB, a 71 baywindow deluxe.
Freddy organized a nice dinner for the people that arrived on saturday!
The ENGLISH seemed to be starved from their long trip! ...and pretty thirsty ,too!
Sunday morning after breakfest we drove our cars into the city center...! 3 of the best known busses in the world in a row! COOL! Two of them are BUG BOX made!
The first sight was Kobus, trying to get 6€ out of everybody! :-)
Beaker from http://beakersblog.skynetblogs.be/ made "BIG MONEY" selling quite a few of his famous squareback TEES!
I took the chance to get my picture taken with the famed type3 hustler!
I heard that there were more than 500 aircooled VW´s in town! I tcouldn´t have been nicer!
Kurt and party animal from Flatliners!
If the manufacturer of these rims wouldn´t be so hard to deal with....!
See you next year! We will com early and stay long and I will try to have no cold in 2008!
I should have narrowed the beam a little more...! Shit!
The rear is narrow enough!
