INTERNATIONAL VW TRANSPORTER MEETING HANNOVER

Volkswagen was celebrating the 60´s anniversary of the VW transporter with a huge meeting at the Hannover EXPO/MESSE grounds!

A few things but not many could have been better organized!

The old 15window did a perfect job with representing our business and skills!

Show and go!

Not much going on in the early morning...

DSCF0780

...but it soon got...

...more..

DSCF0808

...and more...

DSCF0805

...and more!

DSCF0802
Can you spot it?

DSCF0801

Georg and Dommi came by to say hi...

DSCF3584

...and even Helmut "the rat hater" Horn came by to pay us a visit! I don´t think I can convert him...!

In both cases the girls carried the big "weapons"! :-) The boys also had some guns but the were hiding them better!

BUT WHAT WAS THE REASON EVERYBODY WENT TO HANNOVER?

DSCF0861

DSCF0856

The world RADIO FLYER MEETING with captain Max Ahab?

Could have been but wasn´t!!

THIS IS THE BIG DADDY!!!!

DSCF0824

Old Ben´s funny drawing drew the masses & busses there!

DSCF0823

That is the real deal! It took him only a couple seconds to make us all go! Who of you never sat in a Volkswagen transporter once?

DSCF0826

I love the ol´SINALCO van! Please slam it!´

DSCF0831

TH3 built T4& T5vans with Porsche drive technology exceeding 270km/h!

We at the BUG BOX built T1 and T2 vans exceeding 240km/h! Now what´s the real deal?

DSCF0830

DSCF0829

DSCF0828

Our vans might be slower but the look a lot cooler!

DSCF0832

People in former east Germany (DDR) always tell you that they had nothing so they had to built what people on the other side bought! :-) Now every secound seems to have an ugly french car!!!

DSCF0843

This 1956 panel is something I get very angry when I see it! My best friend Detlef K. started this project the same time I started my first bus (an almost identical 1958 panel) 10years ago! He sadly died in a car accident 8years ago! His former boss decided to keep the car and all the parts that Detlef had because (as he says) Dede owed him some cash! He then finished the project, put it in a couple magazines as an advert for his shop and sold it ....! What a good friend and boss he was...!

There is not much left to say! Poor man!

Plenty type 25s everywhere!

DSCF0845

Black brick,..

DSCF0847
grey brick with cool rims,...

DSCF0859
and porn brick from Czech Republic!

DSCF0860

A few Splits and bays came for the weekend!

GUNNS

DSCF0863

The English!

DSCF0867

BAYS vs. BRICKS

DSCF0871
When you made it from the parking/camping area through masses of people to the main stage / wooden pavillion area you could find a couple of splits that the VW museum put on display like this...

DSCF0875
...special model 56 panel look-a-like 1965 or...

DSCF0878

..this 1962 23window made to look like a 63 with it´s flared fender wells!

DSCF0880

Whatever! The most impressing sight was either this plate (with no stamps thanks god!) or...

DSCF0883
..this box of paper bags specially made for the event!

DSCF0928

Host Barbara Schöneberger was looking gorgeous and did a perfect job entertaining the crowd and making jokes of almost everybody!

DSCF0931

Then finally the man that everybody waited for the whole day long showed up on stage! T.E.!(on the left) The man who is known for "that he knows it all!" was the jury for best custom bus and chose his old buddy "BBT-Bob" with the Koch´s built stretch limo as the winner!? What a surprise! Now he even knows Barbara...!

DSCF0896

Can you see the smoke from all the food stands preparing T.E.´s meal?

DSCF0912

Looking at a couple of VW´s new line of utility vehicle I asked myself if they made a deal with George Lukas films for "THE RETURN OF LORD VADER"!

DSCF0913

DSCF0917

Enzo came straight from Italy..

DSCF0923

...to let these blonde chicks sell his latte!

DSCF0937

White camper roofs..

DSCF0941

...brown ,unbelievable wood roof!

One question is not getting out of my head for the last couple years:

Why did prince August choose the turkish pavillion and not these...?DSCF0884

They are free of cash and publicity!

DSCF0956

I asked T.E.! He had no idea!

Then I met Henry! He lives in Hannover but also couldn´t give me an answer !

DSCF0973

BYE BYE big "H"! See you again at the 1.may 08!
