Rough Rider vs Sand Scorcher

The holy grails of vintage RC cars!

DSCF1067

Are you into that stuff? I am! To be honest, I think my Volkswagen life really started with a Rough Rider in 1979! At the tender age of 11 I sold a 1/9 scale Jeep (Revell or Robbe, I can´t remember) to make funds for the brand new Tamiya Rough Rider! I later bought an extra Sand Scorcher body to have them both!

I still have the RR/SC from back then but it is by far the "most used" of them all! It needs a very extensive restoration!

DSCF1053

My original one is the one on the bottom with the "smurf headed" driver!

DSCF1057

Collection is growing! I´m currently restoring one Rough Rider and one Scorcher! Another Scorcher is going to be souped up!

DSCF1079

A very nice base car to start with! It´s the same story as with the 1/1 cars: take the best base car you can get and you´ll save time and money!

The bodies are beeing dipped in brake fluid at the moment to strip the old paint off!
